Tomas returns to GVSU to Debunk the Double Standard

NEW YORK, NY -- October 30, 2008: On November 6, 2008 Tomas Bell, president and founder of Tomasian Entertainment LLC, an internet based entertainment company, located on the web at www.tomasianent.com will return to Grand Valley State University (GVSU) located in Allendale, MI to present, “Debunking the Double Standard”.

This will mark the third time this year that Tomas has been invited by GVSU community to present. This first time Tomas presented at GVSU was in February of 2008. He presented the wildly popular and well received “Hip Hop and Homophobia” presentation. The second time was less than a month ago when Tomas performed an original one man show, “CHaiNS”. This performance was created at the request of GVSU’s LGBT student organization and was very well received.

This time, Tomas hopes to once again provide a thought provoking presentation with “Debunking the Double Standard”. This presentation focuses on the standards that may be applied to one group but not to another. And, how we buy into those standards and help to perpetuate racism, sexism, homophobia, classism, and the like - sometimes without realization.

States Tomas, “I always enjoy my visits to Grand Valley, even with lake effect wind, rain and snow. I hope this presentation will help the GVSU community to understand and appreciate the world around them even more as my travels to various places like GVSU have helped me to grow. This event will take place two days after Election Day, so I’m sure it will be fun.”

About Tomas

Well known for his theatrical and humorous style, Tomas Bell combines an engaging and interactive presentation and well-researched material. This personalized approach has made his presentations and one man performances highly effective and very well received.

A seasoned performer, Tomas travels the US and Canada throughout the year presenting and performing original works of music and theatre as well as diversity, leadership and team building presentations.

More information about Tomas Bell’s work and upcoming schedule is found at his electronic press kit, www.sonicbids.com/tomasbell.

ABOUT TOMAS

Tomas a New York City based performing and recording artist, producer and choreographer and one of the featured performers at this year’s Original GLBT Expo at the Jacob K. Javits Center in New York City is also the president and founder of Tomasian Ent!, LLC. Tomas releases his music through TE! Music, the record label imprint of Tomasian Ent!.

The first single from his upcoming CD, "Day We Lost Our Love", was released last summer and received the support of terrestrial, internet and satellite radio stations in the US, UK and Canada and Australia. Now with the imminent release of Tomas’ second single and the release of the CD itself, Tomas will spend the summer touring in support of the project.

ABOUT THE TOUR

THE FEDORA TOUR marks Tomas’ official return to the musical stage. This is the first time since 2001’s “The getUP! Tour” - a promo tour which criss-crossed the US in support of his debut CD release, getUP! – that Tomas has toured in support of his music. He is very excited to kick off this promo tour in Sin City on May 3, 2008 at the Las Vegas Pride Festival.

This tour is not a pre-booked. Instead, Tomasian Ent! has decided to book Tomas by solicitation and request using direct request sent through Tomas’ online press kit as well as Demands through Eventful.com. This will allow Tomas to do a show in Atlanta on Friday and Chicago on Saturday without turning down places that want to book him. This will also allow Tomasian Ent! to block book Tomas.

Depending upon the event, Tomas' stage show consists of him or him and 2 dancers (4 in the NYC metro area). Some of the upcoming performances also feature special guests such as TE! Music’s resident hiphop/jazz artist Ricky DeMarco and NYC based urban recording artist Lovari.
